Okay, this one's spot on

Your Birthdate: October 2
Your birth on the 2nd day of the month adds a degree of emotion, sensitivity, and intuition to your life.

The 2 is a very social number allowing you to make friends easily and quickly.

Yet you are apt to have a rather nervous air in the company of a large group.

You have a warmhearted nature and emotional understanding that constantly seeks affection.

You are more prone than most to become depressed and moody, as emotions can turn inward and cause anxiety and mental turmoil.

It can be hard for you to bounce back to reality when depression sets in.

Not very prolific, huh?

I see that it's been almost 3 weeks since I last posted. Sorry 'bout that. Life's been rough. My grandma's in the hospital, I'm stressed, I'm depressed - and let's just say that I'm a stress eater and a stress sloth, and neither is doing anything for the fact that I have a bridesmaid gown that I need to wear in 2 months that I can get on but can't zipper. So I've got that whole "holy shit, what am I going to do about this dress" thing coupled with the "who gives a fuck" attitude of the depressed. Lovely. But at least I have good grammar, eh?

The mind boggles...

When did a pair of Keds get to be almost $40.00?!?!

I heart Google!

I mentioned a few days ago that I was going to buy myself some new clothes.

Well, the orignal capris I was going to get are no longer available, but I got the skirt and a pair of black linen capris.

Here's where the hearting Google part comes in. Every once in a while, you can find a coupon code for my favorite catalogs online. I Googled around to look for one, and I found one for 50% off any one item. I found that when I entered the coupon code, it took 50% off the most expensive item in my cart, which was the skirt! I got it for 16 bucks, rather than 32. Score!!

I've been arrested!

Well, not really. ;)

Through my job, I'm participating in the MDA Lockup, to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The premise of the MDA Lockup is that I've been sent to jail, and friends and associates bail me out by donating to the MDA. My "bail" has been listed at $1200 - of course if I can raise more than that, that would be great.

Click here to see the symtoms and effects of this debilitating condition.

Here are a few examples of what your donation can provide:
$63 funds one minute of research
$100 funds one support group session

$200 funds one clinical diagnoses exam
$600 sends one child to MDA Summer Camp
$2000 helps purchase a wheelchair, leg braces or communication devices
And of course, any amount - however small you think it may be - is much appreciated. Every dollar helps.

Please visit my Donation Link and help these children and fund the research so desperately needed to find a cure. The donation deadline for this event is April 18.

Thanks in advance!
Kat

PS - Fellow bloggers, please feel free to direct people to this entry - MDA needs all the help it can get!

PPS - Uh, sorry about the lack of linkage. D'oh!!! Here you go!

Yesterday, today, tomorrow

SPd from Sherri, but have since seen it elsewhere as well

Ten years ago I:

1. Was still a virgin.
2. Was just a few months away from meeting Dawn, one of my bestest friends ever.
3. Still lived in NY.
4. Got fired from a job shortly after I was thrown into a position I was never trained to do.

Five years ago I:

1. Had lived in WI for almost two years.
2. Made my grandma very happy by showing up for Easter dinner (nobody but my immediate family knew I was coming to visit).
3. Drove a red convertible.
4. Didn't have nearly the debt I do now.

Two years ago I:

1. Drive 110 miles every day commuting to and from work.
2. Went to lunch every Friday with friends.
3. Saw my husband in a tuxedo for the first time (yum!).
4. Had not yet met the guy one of my best friends is marrying in July (I met him before she did)

One year ago I:

1. Wondered whether a friend would be mad at me for not getting her a wedding gift because I was broke after having spent over $500 on bridesmaid attire and her bridal shower.
2. Owed the IRS money for the first time ever.
3. Saw the ad for my current job.
4. Finished paying off a loan.

Yesterday I:

1. Had fun girlie time with my 3 best (WI) girlfriends.
2. Drank way too much.
3. Got a kiss on the cheek from one of our (drunk) male friends.
4. Got 3 pairs of awesome dangly earrings (my favorite kind).

Today I:

1. Realized that no matter how perfect they are for the outfit, awesome dangly earrings and turtlenecks don't play nicely together.
2. Decided that I am going to buy myself a really cute skirt and pair of capris I saw in a catalog.
3. Made a corned beef to slice for sandwich meat.
4. Tried to take a nap and failed (my mom called just as I was falling asleep and by the time we ended the conversation it was time to get up).

Tomorrow I:

1. Will try to get some more organizing done at work.
2. Will spend some quality time with my husband after not seeing him at all this weekend.
3. Will take a walk after dinner, weather permitting.
4. Will try to remember that I have a dress to wear in July that is currently 3 sizes too small on me, and adjust my calories in/calories out accordingly.

Aaaaahhhhhhhh

["Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead" voice]
The taxes are done, man!!!
[/"Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead" voice]

This is officially the LATEST I have ever filed. This is probably due to the fact that we owed a large amount this year. I had previously thought that this was the first time I ever owed, but upon logging in to my online tax-preparation account, I remembered that we owed last year. The amount was laughable compared to this year. Bryan and I can't eat dinner at Applebee's for what we owed last year, which I'm guessing is what made it so forgettable.

However...

THIS year we we could have gone on vacation for what we owed. We had been freaking about how it was going to get paid, and then I had a bright idea - we were in the middle of consolidating a couple of loans for a much lower interest rate, so why not add what we owe the feds to the new loan and just be done with it? Maybe not such a hot idea in the long run, but it definitely works for us right now - hey, when you're paycheck-to-paycheck, you gotta do whatcha gotta do, right? Anyway, so between consolidating the two loans (one of which is being shortened by 18 months) and adding the tax money, our payments are now only $3.00 more a month than they were before, our taxes are taken care of, one of our debts gets paid off a year and a half earlier, and we still have the state refund coming to us, which will catch us up on other bills.

AND THERE'S AN ADDED BONUS!!! The way my credit union's automatic payment system works when you have direct deposit (like me), is that rather than taking your payment out of your account once a month, it deducts half of your monthly payment when you get paid every other week. It's pretty nifty, I like it. Well, they started the loan repayment date far enough out that I can skip paying the loan out of my next check, so there's a couple hundred dollars in available funds I didn't think I'd have. Very reassurring.

Loans consolidated, taxes paid, catching up, plus a small amount of breathing room. All in all, a decent start to my weekend. If only I didn't have to get up so early to drop off the car insurance payment, LOL.
