I can sum up my trip to NY in five words: It's good to be home.
Not that I don't enjoy seeing my family, but this trip was particularly draining, emotionally speaking.
With the exception of my best friend from college, whose wedding I was in last year (which was my previous trip to NY - August 2004), it was all family family family mom mom mom (Renee, I left you a message and you didn't call me back, so I figured you were busy). Dad is a grumpyass, mom is unhappy, both the remaining kitty and grandma looked old and frail, and I'm hoping I make it to next Christmas without having to go out again (i.e., hoping there's no funeral before then - grandma really doesn't look good).
There were some good points though:
And, it only took 7+ years, but I truly feel that Wisconsin is now my home. Or... let me rephrase that - wherever Bryan is is my home. I felt well and truly out of place waiting for my flight at LGA, but the biggest sense of relief washed over me when I stepped into the terminal at MKE - walking through the terminal to meet Bryan, I was calm, content and truly felt "aaaahhhh, I'm home."
Posted by beenie at January 11, 2006 03:37 PMYou left a message for someone, but it wasn't me! :-)
I just checked with Dad & there were no messages...
Sorry to miss ya...
For some reason, I thought you were coming down this weekend...
Oh well! :(
Posted by: Renee at January 11, 2006 04:42 PMWell shoot - I even looked the number up, too (rather than just dialing from memory - and I must have a good memory, because I was right). Maybe I misdialed? Meh! :(
