Inspired/Reminded by Renee's comment on my previous post, I have to kvetch about my 10-year high school reunion.
First of all, it's a year late.
Second of all, it's $97.00 a person.
Even if I still lived in NY, I'm not sure I'd attend - I mean, come on... a hundred bucks to see a bunch of people I really didn't like? Sure, there were people I liked in high school - most of them were in the class below me and the class below that. I could probably count the number of people in my class that I liked on both hands. If they had decided to have a joint reunion with the class behind mine, I might be more inclined to go. As it is, I keep in touch with a whopping TWO people from my senior class, and only sporadically at best.
It's funny, I ran into someone I graduated with at the airport in Milwaukee and it turns out she lives about an hour from me - and she's on the list of people they can't find.
Oh, and that's another thing... have they not heard of Google? There are people on the list of people they can't find that they'd find in about 30 seconds if they'd type a name into Google and do even the tiniest bit of research. Argh.
There's a reason they called the local community college "Floyd U."
Tomorrow's the deadline to get your payment in to be included in the directory - I totally forgot about it. I guess I'm not getting one, and I guess I won't be in it, LOL. Ah, well... there are enough people who know how to find me. Not that I wouldn't be easy enough to find - it's not as if my parents don't live in the same house or anything. ;)
Posted by beenie at July 18, 2005 07:08 PMHEY NOW!
I graduated from "Floyd U" (aka Suffolk CCC) and got my degree from Dowling afterwards! :D (and Suffolk CCC was harder than Dowling! I hated those bloody Liberal Arts courses with a passion)
Funny thing is that I am planning on going. Remember Michelle S? (went out with Mark C). Well, we met up after a party at a co-workers house and we are going together!
Yes, $97 is alot, but the reason is that an organization is organizing it! Main reason I am going is to laugh my arse off at most of those people! LOL!
Figured if I hate it, I can leave and not go back for the next reunion!
Later!
Posted by: Renee at July 18, 2005 07:31 PM$97?! Geesh, I probably wouldn't go either. It was easy enough to cough up $25 for mine and it was only 6 months late.
Posted by: Malia at July 19, 2005 09:21 AMWow!!! I've been wondering about Michele for a few years now! Last I heard, she was marrying some guy who went to... hmmm... Smithtown? I hope she and her mom are doing well - tell her I said hi! :)
I should have put in a disclaimer - my dad got his paralegal cert. at Suffolk, and I know it's not a cakewalk. Sorry! ;)
The only person I've spoken to from our class in the last few years is Mike/Prodromos I. And he doesn't do the whole email thing, and I'm awful at sitting down with a pen and a piece of paper, so it's been a couple of years. If he's there, you'll see him before I talk to him again - tell him I said hi, too. :) And if there's anyone who wants to know how to find me, feel free to let them know - and of course, since you're going, I must have details afterward - I'm not into coughing up the cash for airfare plus ticket to go, but of course I need the gossip!
Posted by: beenie at July 19, 2005 05:49 PMMichelle is single (like me) and hasn't changed a bit! She is no longer engaged. She looks great & is happy. She is working at the local B&BW (along with her "real" job during the day!).
I actually have to go to Estelle's soon to find an outfit! :-) Or I'll just wear the dress that I wore to the last Christmas party at my job!
OH! Didja know my middle sis is expecting again? She is due in 2 wks! ACK! :D
Later!
