My mom cracks me up - she called the other night to tell me that she and my father got cell phones for themselves for Christmas. :shock: Holy jeez, it's about freakin' time (they both have fairly decent commutes, mostly highway driving). So she tells me "well, we signed the contract last night, and I'll be damned if I'm going to waste 10 days of my contract that I'm paying for anyway."
Then I had to walk her through making a phone call on her cell over the phone while she was also on her landline. Oy. I had her call me - it was interesting...
Mom: "But if I call you on the cell, won't your phone be busy since we're already on the phone?"
Me: "No ma, I have call waiting, remember? But when you call me I have to answer the beep."
Mom: "Oh yeah."
Me: Okay, so flip the phone open..... okay, now dial my number..... okay, now press send."
Mom: "Oooh, it's ringing!!!"
Me: "Okay, I have a beep. Hold on. (At this point, she has her landline on one ear and her cell on the other - wish I could have had a pic of that!). Hello?"
Mom: "I can hear you! Yaaaay!"
Me: "Congratulations, ma, you've successfully completed your very first cell phone call."
She got so excited over making a phone call - it was really cute. :)
