I don't get it

If you're in a store and a sales person is hovering and you'd prefer that they not, how do you handle it?

A subject close to this came up on a message board I read, and there were people suggesting avoiding eye contact! Personally, I think that is incredibly rude. I can't believe grown women were suggesting it - what are we, in the 9th grade? C'mon ladies, grow a set! These are sales clerks, not the flippin' Queen (not a dig on clerks, I promise)!

And on a side note, if you've already told the salesperson that you're just browsing and that you'll come find them if/when you need them, and they insist on following you around like a puppy dog, is it so hard to ask for a supervisor, and let him/her know that you'd rather not have quite so much attention from the sales staff and that you'll be forced to take your business elsewhere if they continue to be your shadow thankyouverymuch?

::shakes head:: I seriously don't get it. What the hell is so hard about it?

Usually I ignore them but there was one time I was "playful"

I was in JC Penny and looking at ties. A sales droid walked up and asked if he could help me and I looked at his PAISLEY tie (I think that pailsy looks like a cat hacked up on it and then was reprinted multiple times). I looked him in the eye and asked if he picked out his tie... he said YES proudly. My response was "NO, I don't think you can"

Another time a little chickie in Merry Go Round tried to tell me I needed a yellow muscle shirt. Most of you don't know that I am a little overweight and a muscle shirt is NOT ptoper attire for me and Yellow is probably the worst color on the planet for me. I looked at her nad promised if she would 1) go away and 2) keep the other sales piranah away I would buy something from her. THere after I would make sure she was there before I went iin.
