You won't find it here...

Partly because I let this space lay fallow for so long, partly because I wanted a new start, partly because I've been spanging off my lovely host for too long, I've been blogging at a new home since February.

May I introduce... Insert Pithy Title Here.

Childhood goodness

Growing up, my favorite frozen pizza was Ellio's. I've never been able to find it in WI, and had gone so far as to contemplate seeing if I could order it online.

However, there is no longer a need to contemplate. Tonight, in the frozen food aisle, I saw a sign readng "NEW from McCain!" Underneath it was a freezer bin FULL of boxes of Ellio's frozen pizza!

The 5-year-old deep within shouted "yippee!"

I never knew it was possible to be this excited about crappy frozen pizza.

Hello, Rocky

I love the new place.

I love that the new place is in a quiet, semi-wooded area.

I love that we're on the first floor.

I love having the patio door open (screen closed) to let in the fresh night air in the middle of spring.

However, I DO NOT love hearing one of my cats crying the throaty cry of pain (or, for him, like he's in the car), and I also DO NOT love hearing the other one hissing multiple times in rapid succession.

I rushed to the living room to see what was wrong just in time to see a raccoon ambling off my patio. I don't know who's more freaked, me or the cats.

Aaaaaah... we're here.

The move went very well. There were two casualties - a bookcase and a lamp, but the lamp wasn't the fault of the movers, and the bookshelf was a $50.00 ShopKo special about 4 years ago, so it was probably on its way out anyway.

If you're in the market for a moving company, I highly recommend Two Men and a Truck - they were extremely nice, exceptionally professional, and very quick.

Bryan and I both started our new jobs today, after over two weeks off. In a way, I was sad to go back to work, but I was also pretty excited. In the two-plus weeks since I left my old job, NOTHING has been normal. At least I'll have some sense of normalcy and routine back in my life now, despite the load of as-yet-unpacked boxes in the condo.

Despite being about 150 square feet smaller than the old place, having one less bedroom than the old place, and having no garage, I MUCH prefer this place to where we were. It's nice and cozy here. We took the smaller bedroom as our bedroom, so we can have the larger bedroom for the office - now that I actually have a hobby, and it's a hobby that takes up space, this will be a good thing. The bed is up against a wall, but I don't mind. I actually like it that way, because then all my pillows don't end up on the floor.

We're also on the ground floor now, and our cars are no more than 50 feet from our door. The building we're in is tucked back in a wooded corner of the complex, and I've seen squirrels on our patio. We have a washer and a dryer in the kitchen - no more laundromat, no more making a $20.00 withdrawal at the bank and asking for it in two rolls of quarters!

We have a huge storage closet right off the kitchen that we're using as a pantry, which our neighbor has christened "the meth lab."

And speaking of our neighbor, we have a friendly neighbor!! I almost shit myself when he and his lady knocked on the door and introduced themselves on Easter night (when we were sitting on camping chairs in the empty place, eating pizza with some friends). He's been over a few more times since then, and he's really cool. He and Bryan have a lot in common, too. Score!

All in all, we're quite happy so far.

And now? We pack!

Bryan's last day at work was this past Sunday, my last day at work was this past Thursday. We signed the lease on the condo yesterday, and the movers are set to arrive at 9:00 AM on the 12th. Our only job for the next 12 days is to purge-n-pack.

I'm really excited for the purge part, since we have so much stuff. Since we both worked right up until the day we moved last time, we didn't have much time for purging, and as a result, moved a bunch of stuff we didn't really need anymore. Since we have the time this time, we're cutting hard and cutting deep. If anyone is interested, we'll be having a little open house where our friends and family will have first crack at anything we don't want anymore. Whatever's left at the end of the day goes to Goodwill.

Holy shit, we're really doing this! Eep!
